SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

What We Publish:

Through Peter Schutes and Jim Dandy Publishing we publish full-length (word counts of 65,000+) literary novels, young adult novels, and creative nonfiction. We are also looking for erotica and erotic romance (3,500-80,000 words) for our anthologies. NOTE: At this time we are not accepting submissions for collections of poetry, literary short stories, or literary essays.

We publish books that feature unheard and outsider voices. We resonate to authors with transgressive and punk sensibilities. We are particularly interested in publishing work of writers from underrepresented communities in terms of sexual identity, gender identity, spirituality, and physical or mental differences. This is reflected in our catalog of literary and erotic fiction, as well as our business titles. Our publishing press is for outsiders and transgressors: please keep this in mind when submitting.

We ask that you review our catalog of books to determine whether your writing and our books are compatible and be prepared to write a statement indicating why Peter Schutes and Jim Dandy is a perfect fit for your submission.

POLICY ON RESPONSES TO ANY SUBMISSION

We do our best to respond to submissions within six to eight weeks. If you don’t hear from us within eight weeks, it is likely that your title does not fit our needs at this time. But we do like to get back to our authors out of respect and goodwill. Please feel free to submit other titles in the future.

EROTICA:

We are currently seeking the following types of stories:

  • Queer Erotic Romance Novels (65,000+ words)
  • Hardcore, Transgressive, Queer Erotic Shorts (3,500 – 20,000 words) that contain at least two of the three following elements:
    • Gay Erotic Icons – Cowboys, Sailors, Blue Collar, Cops, Prisoners, College Boys, Bodybuilders, Military, Pirates, Astronauts, the Village People assortment.
    • Men with issues of size and/or big size differences
    • Set in a time before Internet and Mobile phones (1980s and earlier)
  • Full-length Hardcore, Transgressive, Queer Erotic Novels (50,000-80,000 words)
    • Same criteria as short stories with regards to characters, size issues, and time setting.
    • Can be Genre, such as Mystery or Science Fiction, but must be highly erotic.
  • Male Pregnancy Shorts, Novellas, or Novels (3,500-80,000 words)
    • Must be erotic, not merely romantic
    • Characters can be effeminate, but more masculine types preferred
    • Should be transgressive, which most MPREG is!
  • We are open to other types of Erotica, including genderqueer, aliens, and other niches, but the types already mentioned are our preferences.
  • We are not open to erotic poetry. Erotic essays may be considered.
